for those who are currently on their Project Butterfly journey, or those who have never heard of it before and these are your first butterflies:
there is hope, there are people who care. there have been countless who have been where you are now. different situations, different times, but they have injured themselves in one way or another. i want you to knowyou arenotalone.
i cut for several years. 6 years. on and off. i thought there was no escape. then i heard of Project Butterfly. i slowly stopped cutting because all the butterflies on my arm represented someone who cared about me and wanted me to get better. i had friends surprised me by drawing a butterfly on themselves to support me in my struggle to get better. i had a whole sleeve of butterflies at one point. those who knew what i was going through stood by me every step of the way. i finally overcame and havent had a blade cut my skin since.
i wont lie, its hard. some days i want to go back. but then i look at my butterfly. mypermanentbutterfly on my wrist. it gives me hope for a better tomorrow.
the butterfly in the picture is my first tattoo. it is covering 5 scars.
there is a better tomorrow. don’t give up hope. not yet, not ever.
<3 i love you ALL.
